Dr .P. Ravi Kumar
Dr. P. Ravi Kumar has been serving as the Dean (Faculty & Student Affairs) at CMR College of Engineering & Technology (CMRCET), Hyderabad, since March 2023. He brings with him rich academic, administrative, and research experience spanning over 27 years, of which 21 years have been at CMRCET.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E.) from Osmania University, Master’s degree (M.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Machine Design from JNTU, Kakinada, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad. In addition, he holds an MBA from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad, a PG Diploma in Plastics Engineering from Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Hyderabad, and a PG Diploma in Industrial Engineering & Management from the Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council, Hyderabad.
Dr. Ravi Kumar is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He is also a member of SAE India, Tribological Society of India.
He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, CMRCET, on 21st June 2004 and has been actively involved in teaching, research, academic administration, and institutional development. He has guided more than 50 B.Tech. and M.Tech. projects and is currently guiding two Ph.D. scholars. He has served as a paper setter and examiner for various universities.
Dr. Ravi Kumar has published 27 journal papers, presented 18 international and 19 national conference papers, and has delivered technical presentations at international conferences held in Venice, Switzerland, Austria, and Japan, in addition to India. His areas of interest include Design and Manufacturing. He is the author of textbooks on Engineering Thermodynamics and Engineering Drawing and has delivered several invited talks and guest lectures at the national level.
Role and Contributions as Dean (Faculty & Student Affairs)
As Dean (Faculty & Student Affairs), Dr. Ravi Kumar plays a pivotal role in:
- Faculty development, mentoring, and performance enhancement
- Planning and execution of Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, and training programs
- Student welfare, academic discipline, and holistic development
- Coordination of student-centric activities, professional societies, clubs, and co-curricular initiatives
- Promoting research culture, innovation, and industry–academia interaction
- Supporting consultancy, funded projects, and quality assurance initiatives
With his leadership, the institution has successfully organized numerous FDPs, workshops, seminars, and consultancy projects, many of which are funded by AICTE and other reputed funding agencies. His efforts continue to strengthen both faculty excellence and student engagement at CMRCET.
